COVID-19 Relief Fund
The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is offering temporary relief to address the COVID-19 pandemic. We are aware of the enormous burden that the pandemic is having on our Latino communities and we are actively taking steps to provide assistance where it is needed the most. LULAC has created the COVID-19 relief fund to support individuals and LULAC Councils. We will be providing microgrants towards general aid, hunger relief, technology, mobility/transportation, mental health, and mentoring and online educational support.

Who Can Apply?
Individuals whose lives have been abruptly affected by COVID-19 and demonstrate a need for assistance, and LULAC Councils in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, whose mission it is to provide relief to local communities.

COVID-19 Relief Funding Options

LULAC is offering multiple funding options. We will be providing individuals and LULAC councils assistance. Below are guidelines for each group of funding.

Individuals who apply for relief funding may utilize their stipend for the following:

General Aid

Funds may be used for:

● Utilities and rent
● Medical services and childcare services
● Personal protective equipment

Hunger Relief

Funds may be used for:

● Creating grocery boxes and hygiene kits.
● Covering transportation costs associated with the delivery of boxed groceries and hygiene kits.
● Gift cards for families in need.
● Expanding local community gardens that provide fresh vegetables.

Technology

Funds may be used for:

● Purchasing Chromebooks for students who do not have access to a computer.
● Purchasing virtual learning software that would provide students with access to online programs and resources.

Mobility/Transportation

Funds may be used for:

● Covering traveling expenses for students going home from college.

Please note for individuals that in addition to the application, please be prepared to show proof of identification and address. For college students, LULAC will accept an unofficial transcript or enrollment verification.

For LULAC Councils:

Project Guidelines for LULAC Councils

LULAC has identified the following priority groups to receive assistance in communities. Although these are identified priorities, we will take all applications and project plans into consideration.:

● Individuals who have been displaced from their job due to COVID-19
● Those that work in the service or retail industry
● 55+ age group
● Farmworker Community
● Individuals who do not qualify for an Economic Impact Payment

Funding Guidelines for LULAC Councils

LULAC Councils must adhere to the following funding guidelines:

● Councils must be in good standing and chartered for the 2020 year
● Funds must be used for the project indicated above, unless otherwise agreed upon with the LULAC Institute.
● Funds are prohibited to be used for personal use and/or gain.
● Project guidelines must be used to manage funds, as explained above.
● An end-of-project report must be submitted with the most accurate information. Failure to do so, or misrepresentation, will result in a negative standing with LULAC Institute’s Programs Department.
